The William E. Atkisson & William J. Brady, Sr. Scholarship will be awarded to rising juniors, who are first generation college students and have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities (exclusive of academic leadership.) Examples include, but are not limited to, enduring family hardships or challenges, leadership in community projects or service programs.) If a student lives with just one parent, that parent’s educational background determines whether the student is considered first generation. Second preference will be given to students who demonstrate the same need and leadership qualities but are not necessarily first generation students. This award will not be renewed annually.

To be eligible for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria:

• Be a rising junior.
• Be a first generation college student.
• Demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities (exclusive of academic leadership.)
• Submit a resume listing leadership qualities and community service activities.
• Submit a one page double spaced essay on why you should receive this scholarship.
• Submitted your 2025-2026 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
• Submit application by May 1, 2026.
